Ingredients
At Miss Bee Haven, formulation begins with understanding.
Every ingredient is selected for its functional role within a preparation. We do not add for trend, volume, or decoration. Each element must serve structure, stability, or support.
Our work is small batch and deliberate. Precision matters.
Below are the core bee-derived ingredients used across our formulations and where they are placed with purpose.
Honey
Used in Fire Cider and Throat Spray
Raw honey is a complex natural substance composed of sugars, enzymes, organic acids, and antioxidants. It is hygroscopic, meaning it attracts and retains moisture.
In throat preparations and herbal tonics, honey functions as a demulcent, coating and soothing tissues while contributing to stability through its low water activity and naturally acidic pH. It has also been widely studied for its antimicrobial and antioxidant properties.
We include honey where its viscosity, composition, and traditional use are most appropriate.
Propolis
Used in Tinctures, Throat Spray, Hair Growth Serum, and Bee Healed Salve
Propolis is a resin gathered by bees from tree buds and botanical sources. Within the hive, it is used to reinforce structure and maintain environmental stability.
Chemically, propolis contains flavonoids, phenolic acids, and other bioactive compounds that have been studied for their antioxidant and protective properties. In topical formulations, it supports skin resilience. In tinctures and throat preparations, it is traditionally valued for its fortifying qualities.
We use propolis where reinforcement and protection are required.
Beeswax
Used in Salves, Balms, and Sunscreen Stick
Beeswax is composed primarily of esters, fatty acids, and long-chain alcohols. It provides structure and stability in oil-based formulations.
On the skin, beeswax forms a breathable occlusive layer that helps reduce transepidal water loss while maintaining flexibility. It supports barrier function without creating a synthetic seal.
We include beeswax where durability, protection, and structural integrity are essential.
Botanicals
Plants contain complex phytochemicals including flavonoids, terpenes, and polyphenols. These compounds are responsible for many of the supportive properties observed in traditional herbal practice.
Our botanicals are selected for historical use, biochemical compatibility, and functional relevance within a formula. Each herb must contribute meaningfully to the preparation.
Nothing is included without purpose.
Our Approach
We believe ingredients should serve.
Our small-batch process allows us to move slowly and choose carefully. Each ingredient is included with intention and placed where it supports the whole.
Simple ingredients. Thoughtful formulation. Steady care.
